Moonshine Inc. is a rule set for 5E Dungeons & Dragons. It is designed to run fairly standalone (i.e. if you don’t have online play this can be run by the players as a one-off encounter). The rule set features a fully developed campaign for the player characters and a grand campaign for the giants called the ‘Moonshine Inc. Giant Invasion of Earth’. The adventure is set in an alternate modern day sci-fi world, a world where human-Giant encounters are common. The campaign has a strong focus on the hard science fiction aspects of the world and the resulting technology and horrors that exist in a hidden subterranean realm beneath the surface of the Earth.

The recommended minimum system requirements are based on the 4 GB of available memory, as well as the minimum graphics requirements to run the Adventure Launcher and the included tutorial. A DirectX10 compatible graphics card is also highly recommended. To run Moonshine Inc. on Windows Vista and Windows 7, a DirectX9 graphics driver is required.

During the course of play, one player can be chosen as the Active Player. In this player’s turn a variety of actions may be performed, such as skills, attacks, items and so on. These actions are performed as normal games of an RPG except that each action costs something, for example, a skill costing stamina, an item costs items, and attack is free.
The remaining players may only act on the Active Player’s turn, or on their own turn.
Whenever an attack is made, or an item is taken, this is recorded on the battle screen. This means that an attack may be recorded on the screen regardless of whether it was successful, making it possible for the opponents to pick up the items for later use.
The Active Player is also the ultimate authority when to attack, when to defend and when to use items. When the Active Player makes a move, all other players have to accept it or abort the game (cancel). In the event of an attack, the player not being attacked has to stand their ground until the attack is over. If a ranged attack is on the board, the attacker and their target are on a collision-detection mode. If there is no block or feint or no range, a successful attack occurs, or a successful block, and if the attack is successful the attack is recorded. The player may also cancel any attack that has been started.
Before each turn, there is a countdown which will end in an attack. When the countdown reaches 0 the opponent is notified of the threat.
There are different types of attacks which are made on the player, if a block is made the target is notified of the block (but not the direction).
The order of attacks is determined when the turn starts. Attacks are in the order they are played, skipping over previously played attacks.
Since attacks can be aborted, they may be combined into a sequence of attacks. A sequence that consists of a feint, attack and another feint is only valid if the feint was successful.
This means that an attack consisting of a feint and an attack is only valid if the feint was successful.
A sequence of successful attacks is valid only if none of them were aborted and all were successful. If a sequence is valid, then this sequence is registered to the active player. During a valid sequence, the player may make a feint or block and be notified in the normal fashion.
