If you are new to CAD, AutoCAD might appear intimidating at first. However, with AutoCAD

To access a particular API, create an object that wraps that API and use it within your script.
* All the above are 1-way data updates. In other words, you do not have any control over the execution of the script or your own way to control its execution.
* Scripting is a 2-way communication tool, the script can execute the function which in turn can send command back to the script.
* Depending on the API you can interact with the drawing or model.
A good example is the model geometry – you have to access and update the model from the script.
In the example below, we are accessing the draw menu, which is not available from the script unless it is invoked in the active model space.

This particular script is the default script for our model or project (if you do not have one).
In a project environment, we need to get the project collection and then traverse through the model hierarchy to find the models that we want to modify. It is a much cleaner and structured approach to modify a model.

It is recommended that you keep the default script in the Scripts folder so that it can easily be accessed from within a project.
# Model Control
Model control is also a very important aspect of a project. Model control refers to the ability to access the model, modify it and control its progress within the project environment.
Controls are placed on the main window so that you can specify how and where a user modifies the model. There are different types of controls that can be accessed from the top menu of AutoCAD, as shown in Figure 6.11.
